Minnesota House and Senate Tax Committees do right by renters!

While the fate of the Governor’s proposed 27% cut to the Renters’ Credit this summer is still up in the air (pending court action), there is good news to report on the permanent status of the program.

Earlier this week both the House and Senate Tax Committees passed bills that return the Renters’ Credit to its pre-unallotment level.

Tax Committee members in both bodies expressed concern that low-income households were suffering too much in today’s economy.  A full Renters’ Credit was the least they could do for struggling households.

The full House and Senate will take up the Tax bills next week.  Please call your legislators.  Remind them to support the Renters’ Credit.
