Talk to your legislators when they go on Spring Break

by Michael Dahl, Public Policy Director on 29 March 2010

When legislators go on Spring Break, they don’t go to sunny beaches.  Instead, they head back to their home district to see how their constituents think they have been doing at the Capitol.

Yep, that’s right, from March 30th – April 5th, your legislator may be a bit more accessible.  And that would be a great time to ask them to support issues that help low-income tenants.  Remind them to:

  • Support the Minnesota Tenant Bill of Rights; and,
  • Keep the Renters’ Credit whole

Find out who represents you by visiting this link or calling 651.296.2146 or 1.800.657.3550.

While both issues are fairing pretty well at the Capitol, neither one is a done deal.  The Senate still needs to take a final vote on the Tenant Bill of Rights after they return from break.  And the jury is still out on whether the Governor will sign the Supplemental Budget that returns the Renters Credit to its full amount in 2011 and 2012.  We need to keep the Legislature strong on our issues!
