On August 10th, the Minnesota Secretary of State will hold primary elections for state offices.  HOME Line is excited to be working to ensure that all Minnesota citizens are able to vote in the upcoming primary. For citizens who are not able to make it to their polling place on August 10th, absentee ballots are available now.

Citizens who vote using absentee ballots can do so either by mail or in person.  If you want to vote by mail, you will need to fill out an absentee ballot application and fax/mail the application to your county auditor’s office (some city and township clerk offices also accept absentee ballots).  Once the application has been processed, a ballot and prepaid envelope will be mailed back to you.  After filling out the ballot, put it in the prepaid envelope and send it back to the county auditor’s office.  Completed ballots must be received by August 10th to be counted.  In order to find the correct contact information for your county auditor, please click here to access the Election Official Directory.

Absentee ballots can also be completed and returned in-person to the county auditor’s office (in some instances, the city or township clerk offices) until 5:00 PM August 9th.  If you are overseas, an armed service member, or if you would like to apply for permanent, perpetual absentee ballots, see this link for more information.

Any additional questions about absentee balloting can be answered by the Election and Open Appointments Counter at the State Capitol.  Election counter staff can be contacted between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM Monday through Friday by phone at 651-215-1440 or 1-877-600-8683, or by email at elections.dept@state.mn.us.
