Hsg Basics
In 2007, just under 5.3 million people lived in Minnesota, making for just over 2 million households. About 75% of those households owned their homes; 25% rented.
Many Minnesotans are worried about their homes. Homeowners are dealing with declining home values, upside down mortgages, and an economy that sometimes makes the monthly payment to the bank difficult. If affordable housing costs no more than 30% of your income, then 28.7% of homeowners are paying too much for their housing. Of renters, nearly half (45%) cannot afford where they live. This says nothing of the roughly 10,000 people who go homeless each night in our state, half of whom are children.
