LANDLORD TENANT LAW TRAINING
In general, the public is ill advised and or unaware of the rights and responsibilities of Minnesota landlords and renters. HOME Line’s quarterly, (we typically apply for 5.25 Continuing Legal Education credits) Landlord Tenant Law training seeks to inform the public (with a specific emphasis on targeting landlords, tenants, social workers (renter advocates), and attorneys) about Minnesota’s state laws that pertain to the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants. Seminar highlights include: (1) Definition of a tenant and rental property (2) Contractual obligation of leases (3) Repairs (4) Retaliation (5) Privacy (6) Changing lease terms (7) Lease terminations (8) Evictions (9) Expungements (10) Security deposits (11) Abandoned property (12) Manufactured rental properties and (13) Rental foreclosures.
Minnesota Landlord Tenant Law trainings are conducted quarterly by HOME Line’s staff of attorneys.
We seek training attendees from the public at large but specifically target:
- Social workers: $30/person.
- Public Interest Attorneys: $50/person
- General Attorneys: $70/person.
Attendees receive continental breakfast and lunch, an outline of seminar topics, and attorneys receive 5.25 CLE credits. The seminars take place at William Mitchell College of Law. Training begins promptly at 9:00a.m. and traditionally wraps up around 3:00-3:30 p.m. The course includes some lecture with PowerPoint, a couple of videos illustrating legal points, and many questions and answers.
