On December 18th, 2024, HOME Line Housing Attorney and Communications Coordinator Rachael Sterling hosted a webinar covering changes to how Minnesota tenants will file for their 2024 Renter’s Credit. Rachael was joined by Minnesota Department of Revenue Outreach Supervisor Jake Feneis and Volunteer Outreach Coordinator Jessica Delcid, as well as Tax & Financial Services Manager Willie Gregg from Prepare and Prosper. Beginning in 2025 for 2024 taxes, tenants will claim the Renter’s Credit as part of their Minnesota Individual Income Tax return (Form M1) INSTEAD OF filing a Renter’s Property Tax Refund return (Form M1PR). The presentation also covered updates for property owners and managing agents coming in 2025. Presenters also fielded a range of questions from webinar attendees.
HOME Line has been hosting regular tenant/landlord legal webinars since mid-April 2020, initially about COVID-19 issues, and expanding to other topics since then. Over 7,500 tenants, social workers and landlords have watched these live presentations from 1,300 organizations. Over 6,200 have watched recorded versions
