At HOME Line, our work is rooted in the belief that every person deserves safety, dignity, and the ability to live without fear in their home and community. Over the past several days, we have watched with heartbreak and deep anger as ICE raids have targeted Somali and Latino families and other immigrant neighbors across Minnesota. These attacks have shaken entire communities, and we stand in full solidarity with all those experiencing fear, state violence, and the splintering of their families.
As a tenant advocacy organization, we know how essential strong, connected neighborhoods are. Our homes—and the relationships we build within them—are meant to be places of protection. When our neighbors are targeted, surveilled, or taken from their families, the fabric of our communities is torn. We believe in showing up for one another, checking in on your neighbors, sharing information, and doing what we can to keep each other safe.
Minnesota is home to tens of thousands of Somali community members whose presence, leadership, and culture have shaped this state for generations. The harm being inflicted right now is unjust, racist, and unacceptable. We join countless organizations, faith leaders, and residents in condemning these actions and calling for collective care and community defense.
We also want to be clear: HOME Line is not an expert in immigration law or enforcement. We urge anyone seeking information, support, or guidance to turn to the groups already leading this critical work on the ground. We uplift and refer community members to organizations such as:
- Immigrant Defense Network – A statewide coalition providing legal information, defense strategies, and collective action tools to support immigrant communities across Minnesota.
- Monarca Rapid Response Line – A Minnesota-based network mobilizing community members to observe and respond to federal immigration activity, offering “know your rights,” legal observer, and rapid response support.
- CAIR–Minnesota – Offering civil rights resources and legal guidance, particularly to Muslim community members and others facing discrimination or targeted enforcement.
- MIRAC – Offering a wide variety of resources for community members directly impacted by immigration enforcement as well as for community members looking to tap into a response network.
We remain committed to standing with our neighbors, lifting up the leadership of immigrant-led organizations, and working toward a Minnesota where every person—regardless of background or status—can live safely, powerfully, and without fear.
