On September 9th, HOME Line hosted a free webinar to share information about current legal issues that Minnesota renters are facing during the COVID-19 pandemic. This week we covered the possible impact in Minnesota of the recently announced Federal CDC eviction suspension. We were also joined by guest panelist Dan Hylton, Research Manager from HousingLink to discuss what they’re seeing in the rental market thus far in 2020. He covered what they know about renters’ ability to pay amid an ever-shifting landscape of economic uncertainty and a patchwork of protections, as well as the impacts they can see on rents, vacancy, and other Twin Cities market trends.

- Recently announced federal CDC/HHS eviction suspension, effective 9/4/20. Note: Here in Minnesota, the Governor’s Executive Order that suspends almost all evictions and landlord-initiated lease terminations (EO 20-79) is substantially more protective for renters than the CDC suspension in most key aspects. Because of this, the CDC suspension currently DOES NOT APPLY in states that already have stronger protections, like Minnesota.
