On April 28th, HOME Line hosted another COVID-19 webinar—the recording is further below: A Year With (Almost) No Evictions — Analyzing eviction cases filed during the pandemic. This was a follow-up to our most popular webinar over the past year on October 28, 2020, where we analyzed eviction data for cases filed during the moratorium. Now a full year into the eviction suspension (March 23, 2020-March 23, 2021), we outlined the number of evictions filed during Minnesota’s eviction moratorium, compared filing rates throughout the state, described the types of cases that were filed, which cases were successful for landlords and which were not, and highlighted some interesting cases and outcomes. We also briefly reviewed the current status of state and federal eviction suspensions.
This session was led by third-year U of M law student Leah DeGrazia, a fellow with the Saeks Public Interest Residency Program. She began working with HOME Line last summer, shortly after the pandemic began. Joining Leah was HOME Line Housing Attorney Andrea Palumbo. Andrea has worked with HOME Line since early 2019 and has focused on eviction prevention work, advising over 2,000 Minnesota tenants on evictions in the last two years.
HOME Line has been hosting webinars since mid-April on COVID-19 and how it affects Minnesota landlords and tenants. Over 4,000 tenants, social workers and landlords have watched these live presentations and over 2,200 have watched recorded versions. Consider registering for one of our upcoming webinars:
