HOME Line, in partnership with Minnesota Engagement on Shelter & Housing (MESH), hosted a workshop for Family Homeless Prevention & Assistance Program (FHPAP) stakeholders on Tuesday, May 18th from 12:30 – 2 pm. The workshop was designed to share information, answer questions, and facilitate discussion regarding the impending end to the eviction moratorium.
Thousands of households across Minnesota are at potential risk of losing their housing when the eviction moratorium eventually comes to an end. Leaders responsible for homeless prevention are needing to prepare for the needs that will emerge as the moratorium ends—and we have many questions.
• When do we expect the moratorium to end?
• What will the off-ramp potentially look like?
• What are the legal options renters will have—and what can they be doing now?
• How should communities be planning for the off-ramp? What strategies are communities employing across the state?
In our workshop on 5/18, we tackled these vital questions. The workshop included an overview of key legal information, the legislative options being considered, and strategies communities are considering in preparation for the moratorium off-ramp. This workshop was intended for Family Homeless Prevention & Assistance Program (FHPAP) coordinators and advisory members and others across the state focused on preventing homelessness.
