On Thursday April 14th, HOME Line held an online webinar where Kara Lallman, HOME Line’s Organizing Project Director provided take-away tools for Community Organizers and Tenant Advocates. Empowering renters means bringing the community and organizing tools together, but finding best practices and examples can be overwhelming.
As the Director of the VISTA volunteer program and member of the HOME Line Organizing team, she has assisted in developing numerous renter groups. Additionally, Kara founded a tenant association at her former property through the help of HOME Line’s Lead Tenant Organizer, Erin West. Her crossover with a computer programmer helped her learn how technology could enhance renter organizing efforts. Expect to walk away with step-by-step instructions to create flyers, QR codes, meeting outlines, property documentation, etc. with an awareness of differences in the community’s multicultural needs.
