PLEASE NOTE: SOME OF THE INFORMATION COVERED IN THIS WEBINAR AND THE RELATED MATERIALS ARE NO LONGER ACCURATE. This webinar was recorded on 6/1/22, so it referenced a previous set of city rules and procedures. The St. Paul City Council and St. Paul Department of Safety and Inspections (DSI) made revisions to these rules and procedures effective January 1, 2023. As of May 2023, we have updated our St. Paul rent stabilization form letter for contesting a rent increase to reflect these changes and will be hosting another webinar in the future. If you are a renter in St. Paul and have questions about the ordinance, please review the materials produced by the City of St. Paul here and consider contacting our tenant hotline for free and confidential advice about your situation: 612-728-5767 or email-an-attorney.
On June 1, 2022, HOME Line hosted a webinar on Minnesota tenant/landlord law. In this webinar Angie Wiese, Interim Director for the City of St. Paul’s Department of Safety & Inspections (DSI), and Stephen Earnest, Assistant City Attorney, covered what the ordinance actually says, how it is being implemented, and what it means for tenants and landlords going forward. HOME Line legal staff also briefly shared information about the end of Minnesota’s eviction moratorium which occurred as of June 1. DSI Director Wiese and Assistant City Attorney Earnest also fielded a range of questions about the St. Paul ordinance.
HOME Line has been hosting webinars since mid-April 2020 on COVID-19 and how it affects Minnesota landlords and tenants. Over 6,000 tenants, social workers and landlords have watched these live presentations and over 3,200 have watched recorded versions.
