Meet HOME Line’s New Somali and Spanish Speaking Tenant Advocates

July 15, 2014 by Eric Hauge Leave a Comment

HOME Line would like to introduce Zeynab and Claire, our new Tenant Advocates working on addressing the needs of Somali and Spanish speaking renters. Both staff have been trained in tenant landlord law and are now providing advocacy in Somali and Spanish on our tenant hotline. In addition, they are beginning community outreach to organizations that serve these respective communities. Please feel free to contact either staff member if you have ideas or contacts with organizations to help us connect with these immigrant communities.

All renters that need rental advocacy should contact our tenant hotline at 612 728-5767. Somali (press # 117) and Spanish (press # 111) hotline prompts direct callers in need of assistance in a specific language to the appropriate staff member.

ClaireClaire Branigan holds the position of Spanish speaking Tenant Advocate. Prior to joining HOME Line, Claire worked as a bilingual case manager in the field of immigration law where she assisted hundreds of individuals to establish legal immigration status. Claire holds a BA from Grinnell College in Anthropology and Latin American Studies. A St. Paul native, she has previously volunteered with Twin Cities organizations such as Casa de Esperanza and The Advocates for Human Rights. She is fluent in Spanish and has lived abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Claire specializes in providing accessible, bi-lingual legal assistance and is proud to bring her expertise to HOME Line. Claire’s email is claireb@homelinemn.org.
