Every summer, we see a spike in Security Deposit calls to the tenant hotline. Most landlords charge a full-months rent (or more) for a security deposit. The vast majority of our clients are, as defined by HUD, low income. The return of these deposits are a key part of making thousands of MN families budgets either work or not work for an entire year.
Why the summer? That’s the time when most MN tenants move in and out of rentals. We’re asking for your help to fund our extra tenant hotline work for our busiest months of the year.
