This was the tenant hotline’s busiest September ever, with 1,661 new calls and 1,385 follow-up calls, for a total of 3,046 calls. Last September (the previous record) was only 2,563 calls.
As of the end of September, the hotline has actually taken more total calls this year than we did in all of 2021. For 2021, we took a total of 25,155 combined calls (new plus follow-ups). Through September 30, 2022, we’ve already eclipsed that full-year total by taking 25,907.
Evictions continue to be the key reason why our call volume is so much higher this year. Just looking at September of last year, we took 260 eviction calls. This September–502 eviction calls.
