July Hotline Demand Surges Past Previous Record

August 2, 2025 by Mike Vraa Leave a Comment

July set a record for new calls/emails on the tenant hotline with 2,065 contacts. This eclipses a record set earlier this year in January. We remain well ahead of last year’s pace, with a 6% increase in both new and total contacts (follow-ups plus new).
Here are the top 10 reasons tenants contacted us in July 2025 compared to July 2024.

New calls and emails went up—and in almost every category, substantially—when compared to last July. There was a 14% increase in new contacts compared to last July.

Repairs and evictions remain our leading call reasons, which has been very consistent over time at HOME Line. In the last couple of years—post-pandemic—evictions and repairs are typically closer together, with evictions frequently taking the top monthly spot. It’s been a while since we’ve seen this kind of separation, with repairs this high relative to evictions.

We’ve also had some temporary help on the hotline: three law students who are working with us this summer to help manage our increased call volume. Carson Holmgren, Grace Larsen, and Samuel Palim have helped manage over 1,000 calls so far this summer!
