Ubah is a natural advocate for the Somali community. She grew up in Somalia until the Somali Civil War and moved to Milwauikee, WI at age 18. She worked in immigration & refugee services with Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas. She then moved to Minnesota in 2017 and worked as a medical interpreter, primarily in labor and delivery. Ubah has been with HOME Line since 2022, continuing to support the Somali community through HOME Line’s renter hotline and renter organizing. Ubah is a nationally certified Somali-English interpreter and is deeply committed to supporting the Somali community. Her experience growing up in Somalia and navigating the U.S. systems as an adult allows her to help others navigate complex systems in an understandable way.
