The tenant hotline has just finished the first quarter of 2026, and new contacts (calls plus emails) were up 2.8% over 2025—which turned out to be our busiest year ever for new contacts.
Here are the top 15 reasons for contacts for the first quarter compared to the first quarter in 2025.

Evictions remain firmly in the top spot for reasons why tenants contacted our tenant hotline. In 2025, each month, repairs or evictions seemingly alternated in the top spot, but there’s a pretty big separation between these two so far in 2026. Financial aid requests remain high—almost double what they were at this time last year. Notable declines include calls about repairs and security deposits.
Tenants are contacting us in many different languages as well. This year, we’ve helped tenants in Spanish, Somali, and Hmong. We’ve had 411 of these calls this quarter compared to 370 at the same time last year, an 11% increase.
Note: 2025 had our highest number ever of inquiries from households whose primary language was Spanish, Somali, or Hmong.
